Command Window

The UNIX platform does not have a graphical user interface for the Command Window. You perform all functions using the command line.

Other Environment Tools

Other MATLAB environment tools that use graphical user interfaces are available for UNIX platforms:

Editor/Debugger
Path Browser
Workspace Browser

Preferences. An optimization option in the .Xdefaults file starts the graphical user interface environment tools but does not display them until you explicitly ask for them. If you want to turn this feature off, set the matlab*preloadIDE variable to Off. (The default is On.)

The environment tools will not display well on 16-bit X displays. If you are using such a display, turn the environment tools off in your .Xdefaults file.
