Introduction

ESRI® is pleased to announce ArcGIS Desktop 8.3 Geodatabase Patch. This Patch contains several fixes for the editing of geometric networks and their use within a multi-user environment. It deals specifically with the issues listed below under Issues Addressed with this Patch.

We recommend that all ArcGIS 8.3 customers, who use geometric networks in either a Personal or Multi-user Geodatabase, download and install this Service Pack at their earliest convenience to ensure the highest quality experience when working with ArcGIS 8.3.

Issues Addressed with this Patch

CQ00216377 - Connectivity information for complex edges should be returned in a consistent order.

CQ00216731 - Splitting an edge feature during the OnCreateFeature event of a junction feature, with an active Edit Cache causes network inconsistencies.

CQ00221810 - Reconcile may cause the application to fatal under certain circumstances with network features.

CQ00226309 - When replacing features with other versions in the Conflicts Dialog, no error message is raised if the replacement operation fails.

CQ00226940 - Using the Repair Connectivity command may result in a large number of conflicts on reconcile.

Installing the Patch

Since this Patch replaces several ArcGIS Desktop 8.3 files, ArcGIS Desktop 8.3 Service Pack 3 must be installed before you can install this Patch.

1. Make sure you have write access to your ArcGIS Desktop, and that no one is using ArcGIS Desktop.



2. Download ArcGIS-83-GDB-Patch.exe (4 MB) to a location other than your ArcGIS Desktop installation location.
   
   
3. Double-click the setup file to start the install process.



4. When Setup starts, follow the instructions on your screen.

NOTE: If you have installed client setups from a shared Network Administrative ArcGIS Desktop setup, this Patch must be applied to all client installations.

How to identify which Patch is installed

To check for the presence of Quick Fixes, examine the unique identification information by a (right click, properties, version tab) action under Explorer. With only a few exceptions, all files modified as part of a QFE distribution can be uniquely identified in this manner. Under Windows 2000, select 'Product Version' under the 'Item name' column to see the unique identifier. The identification string for this Patch shoud read:
