Graticule
Meridians: Equally spaced straight lines converging at the North Pole. Parallels: Unequally spaced straight parallel lines, farthest apart near the North Pole, closest near the South Pole Poles: North Pole is a point, South Pole is a line 1.41 as long as the Equator. Symmetry: About the central meridian.Features
This is a novelty projection showing a straight-line, equal-area graticule. Scale is true along the 15°51'N parallel, constant along any parallel, and different for any pair of parallels. Distortion is severe in many regions, and is only absent at 15°51'N on the central meridian. This projection is not conformal or equidistant.Parallels
This projection has one standard parallel, which is by definition fixed at 15°51'.Remarks
This projection was presented by Édouard Collignon in 1865.
