Sample-Based Matrices
Matrices provide a flexible alternative to vectors for transmitting multichannel sample-based signals, such as the time-varying array of pixel brightness values shown in the figure below. In sample-based signals, each matrix element represents one sample from a distinct signal channel. For example, if ut=0 is the first matrix in the series, ut=1 is the second, ut=2 is the third, and so on, then the signal in channel 1 is composed of the following sequence:
